Things To Complement A Yoga Practice: Structural Integration

Last updated 6 years ago

Just by going to Bikram class regularly, you’re already doing yourself a world of good. You’re reversing the aging process, ridding yourself of pain, lowering your stress level and so much more. But what can you do outside the hot room to enhance that great feeling even more? One of our favorite complements is structural integration therapy. Its name may sound a little intimidating but it offers tremendous benefits – just like yoga!

Structural integration has been in use for more than 50 years and was developed by Ida P. Rolf. It works to align and balance the body to become more flexible and facilitate movement. Structural integration focuses on the protective layers surrounding muscles, bones and organs – it’s not a massage. The therapy lengthens the body to allow muscles and joints the space to work, and opens the patterns of the connective tissue. Typical improvements include greater flexibility, increased breathing capacity, increased energy and more. The improvement in your posture even gives off the appearance of being taller! How cool is that?!

We encourage you to give structural integration a try and drop a line to let us know what you think!
